Penn Brewery Oktoberfest Lager Beer - My Microbrew Review

Bookmark and Share

I live here in western Pennsylvania and sampled some great Pennsylvania microbrews and craft beers from across this great country. But in the end, just yesterday I finally pick up a bottle of a modest looking Penn Brewery Oktoberfest from my local bottle shop. Wow, it's hard to believe that it took me this long to see the beers from this brewery local Pittsburgh area? Yes, I am lazy in many senses of words. But, of course, Pittsburgh is not exactly known for its microbreweries and craft beers now is it?

In any case, this chilled 12 ounce brown glass bottle has a slightly solemn scene OLE good German boy and girl in traditional German Oktoberfest celebratory clothes (boys only one boot Stein of the German liquid gold, while the young lady has six cups once. pretty impressive for a young lady any nationality, is not it? it's a decent mark, but nothing all that extreme or off the beaten path of those designs found on many Oktoberfest-style beers. how can anyone do with the topic as the Oktoberfest celebration Germany already is not it?

I poured this beer in the standard, unchilled 10 ounce glass beer mug quite aggressively. Not a lot of frothing head around or anything really going on here looks-wise. I was witness to just shy of one-finger white head to the Penn Oktoberfest they really did not hang around very long for more than a minute or two. Beer is very clear and reddish-brown forest boje.Vrlo active culture of tiny bubbles migrate to the surface from all areas of the bottom of the mug.

Aroma is not very assumption. Slightly bready malt aroma and a mediocre presence. It's really about it here. There was nothing to write home about Penn Brewery Oktoberfest in the way of an attack on the OLE fragrant Homefront. The nose is definitely the best average in making me want to take my first sip.

, but I did sip. And my first sip of providing a smooth, somewhat thin, but a sip of beer. Sweet just a little bit, but fair balance of hops to balance. There was not much zing on the palate, even given the appearance of a high level of carbonation. It was hard to feel much carbonation at all in a bit. This Oktoberfest went down very smooth and very easy and it just went easier for fifteen or twenty minutes passed, and warmed in my mug. Only after a while I start to become more annoyed with the thin nature of the craft beers. There was a slightly sour aftertaste that definitely did not add in the most positive experience.

I tried this beer after a long Holdout sampling and inspection of any product cranked by Penn Brewery, and after that beer can wait awhile longer before sampling and reviewed by another microbrew from the Pittsburgh microbrewery.

In my experience with the Pennsylvania Society of beer in the winter offers St. Nicholas Bock Bier, just not all that impressed with most others I've tried from this western Pennsylvania microbrewery. I think they are trying, but maybe there is some space for one or two more "flagship" type of beer that could help them put on a microbrew view the map nationally. I hope the best for them as I do all microbrewers and craft beer brewers alike. More good brewery means more good beer for all of us to try and enjoy.

My final word on Penn Oktoberfest Lager from Pennsylvania Brewing Company is that the average craft beer, and the average proportion of Oktoberfest beer style. Nothing too, too bad about it, but nothing all that great either. I just do not feel that beer is defined or offered any separation from other Octoberfest beers available on the market today beers. Maybe next fall the series will be different and better overall, but this year I'm giving Penn Brewery Oktoberfest 4.75 of 10.00 points overall. It would be great for tailgating at the next Steelers game though. I do not know of alcohol, but I'm guessing that somewhere around 5% or so which will allow the consumption of at least a few of these beers at a sitting or event. Cheers!
